Over 100 attendees– ranging from various state and local elected officials to prominent business, political, legal and cultural leaders– were welcomed by James CEO/Publisher Phil Kent.

Georgia DREAMS need-based scholarship now reality

Legislation that officials say will offer more opportunities for students to continue their education after high school has now become law. Gov. Brian Kemp signed Senate Bill 556 and codified the Georgia Dedicating Resources to Educationally Advance More Students (DREAMS) scholarship program under the Georgia Student Finance Commission.

Lawmakers return for 2026 session; full legislative calendar released

Georgia lawmakers return to the Capitol today to kick off the 2026 legislative session – which should see a focus on affordability, tax relief, election integrity (specifically the issue of hand-marked ballots), and possible regulations on data centers. It is expected to be an interesting session as many politicians posture for higher office in the midterm elections, and Gov. Brian Kemp enters this final session as the chief lawmaker for the state.

Some Georgia wins in appropriations season

Ga. part of coalition to ban cell phones in prisons, jails

Georgia is leading the way in a 23-state coalition in the continued battle to combat contraband cell phones in prisons and jail. Attorney General Chris Carr and Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin recently penned a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) supporting a proposal that would allow states to use jamming technology to stop contraband cell phones.

Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?

Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger.  In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities.  Gov.
