State school chief calls for reforms to school district financial safeguards

Georgia’s top school official is calling for “sweeping reforms in state safeguards related to school district financial management.” State School Superintendent Richard Woods calls for the reforms on the heels of reports that Dublin City Schools faces a severe budget shortfall – reportedly a $13.4 million deficit and nearly $7 million in unpaid health benefits.

Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention

The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.  Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.”  The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
