‘Freedom Plane’ bringing precious historical documents to Atlanta

To mark the United States’ Semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary, the National Archives’ Freedom Plane National Tour is traveling the country with a trove of historical documents that mark some of the most important moments in America’s founding.  From now until April 12 those documents will be displayed in the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead.

Georgia officials urge Instagram to strengthen privacy protections

Georgia is leading the way in urging Instagram to strengthen location privacy protections. Attorney General Chris Carr was joined by a bipartisan coalition of 37 attorneys general in sending a letter to Instagram asking for immediate changes to its newly implemented location-sharing feature, which he says allows a user’s precise location to be displayed on a map.

GOP notches another win in Fulton elections case

Republicans are celebrating another legal victory in the Fulton County Board of Elections case. Senior Superior Court Judge David Emerson has denied a stay requested by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and has demanded they seat the duly appointed Republican members of the county Election Board.

New visitor center opens at Vogel State Park

The grand opening of the new visitor center at Vogel State Park outside Blairsville – the state’s second-oldest state park – drew a crowd of community members and state and local officials, eager to witness the unveiling of the new facility, made possible in part from a $4.67 million grant from the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program.

Each day Atlanta television news stations graphically report stories of victims who were shot, killed, beaten or raped in the preceding 12 to 24 hours. While Georgia residents sadly accept the depressing reports as our new normal for violent crime, we tend to become desensitized and less empathetic toward crime victims and their grieving loved ones.

Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention

The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.  Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.”  The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
