Georgia Ports celebrates 80 years at International Trade Conference

Coming the week after the Georgia Logistics Summit, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) hosted its International Trade Conference this week in Savannah. At the 56th edition for the annual conference, the GPA also celebrated its 80th anniversary with hundreds of attendees from customers, business partners and industry leaders. The event is a chance to discuss logistics and maritime-related issues.

A Georgia U.S. Senate election poll— without Kemp

Speculation mounts in both Republican and Democratic circles as to what Gov. Brian Kemp will do next politically since he is barred from running for a third term. If the popular governor decides not to run to be the 2026 GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate seat occupied by Democrat Jon Ossoff, it will mean several GOP candidates would jump into the race.

Warnock cosponsors bipartisan forestry bill

U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-GA, along with fellow U.S. Sens. Martin Heinrich, D-NM, Jim Justice, R-WV, and Steve Daines, R-MT, has introduced the ‘Forest Bioeconomy Act’ to boost forestry products research and create new market opportunities for the sector. The bill would help to create new jobs in rural Georgia, in an industry that already has a more than $41 billion economic impact.

Revise Ballot Access Laws to Regulate the Libertarians

Every two years about this time, you begin to hear both Democrats and Republicans claim that “a vote for the Libertarian is a vote for the other side.” This isn’t usually true. Surveys have shown that Libertarian candidates usually draw about equally from Democrats and Republicans. That doesn’t mean, though, that the Libertarian presence on the Georgia ballot is benign or inconsequential.

Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention

The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.  Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.”  The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
