In 2023, after a rezoning by the Bartow County Commission, the Neel family business the Aubrey Corporation chose to let the lease expire and concepts ranging from mining operations to residential housing were floated as part of the future for the land.

House subcommittee will study college admissions testing standards
A new House subcommittee has been created to evaluate the Classic Learning Test (CLT) and determine whether a valid concordance exists, or can be established, between CLT scores and scores on the SAT and ACT – standardized college admissions tests.
DCA announces more than $40 million in block grants
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has announced that 42 Georgia communities are the recipients of this year Community Development Block Grants (CDBG). The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awards the funding annually, to be administered by DCA. This year’s CDBG allotment totaled $40.9 million, specifically targeting rural communities.
McCormick presses immigration expert, calls for closing “immigration loophole”
U.S. Rep. Rich McCormick, R-GA, is pushing for changes that would close what he calls an “immigration loophole.” During a recent House Task Force on Defending Constitutional Rights and Exposing Institutional Abuses roundtable examining birth tourism in the United States, McCormick questioned Dr. Steven A. Camarota, Director of Research at the Center for Immigration Studies, on the growing birth tourism industry and additional steps Congress can take to combat the practice.

Clyde weighs in on semi-automatic rifle case
Georgia’s U.S. Republican Rep. Andrew Clyde is leading a large coalition of House Republicans in an amicus brief that urges the Supreme Court of the United States to rule that bans on the AR-15 and similar rifles are unconstitutional.
