Gang Prosecution Unit celebrates four years of success
Georgia’s Gang Prosecution Unit was established four years ago in the State Attorney General’s Office and has secured more than 140 convictions since its inception. The majority of these cases involve shootings, both fatal and non-fatal, with one victim as young as three years old.
$10 million federal funds for aviation safety at Atlanta Regional Airport
Efforts by U.S Rep. Brian Jack, R-GA, resulted in a major investment in aviation safety at Peachtree City’s Atlanta Regional Airport, also known as Falcon Field. Jack visited his hometown late last week to announce that the Federal Aviation Administration will be investing $9,925,000 for a new air traffic control tower, which is expected to become operational in 2028.
New law will consolidate Georgia transit authorities
New legislation signed into law by Gov. Brian Kemp this week will “streamline Georgia’s transportation governance structure by dismantling the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and reconstructing the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority (ATL) into a single entity focused on efficiency and limited government.”
Republicans need to make up early voting gap
Georgia is about to end its early primary voting with good numbers for Democrats. Per statistics from http://georgiavotes.com/, so far in the 2026 primary election, 1,023,307 people have voted. At this point in the 2022 primary election, that number was 859,897.
New Georgia law designed to protect children online
Gov. Brian Kemp has signed legislation into law that establishes safeguards for minors interacting with artificial intelligence systems while supporting continued innovation in Georgia’s growing technology sector. Senate Bill 540 takes effect July 1, 2027.
Senate committee issues subpoenas to Stacey Abrams in campaign finance investigation
The Georgia Senate Special Committee on Investigations has issued subpoenas to Stacey Abrams, Lauren Groh-Wargo and Nsé Ufot as part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into campaign finance law violations connected to the New Georgia Project and its affiliated entities. According to the subpoenas, they are to appear before the committee at the Capitol this morning at 10 a.m.
Chaos in Georgia elections again?
As Georgia continues to be the focus of endless election related stories, another potential bombshell has arisen. Former DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones, a Republican candidate for Secretary of State, has filed a Writ of Mandamus based on an Executive Order issued by President Donald Trump last year prohibiting the use of ballot QR codes in federal elections.
